The right equipment makes all the difference

We caught some amazing dolphin on our fishing excursion this month. In fact, it was probably one of the best fishing trips we have ever taken since we bought the boat. Of course as with any trip there is as much thrill in finding the fish as there is in catching them and hauling them up on to the boat.

Since I'm not as experienced of an angler the boys decided to throw me a bone and make me the designated finder fish were no where to be found at first so I looked like a big failure. Soon enough though our luck changed and I spotted a nice weed line with some birds circling overhead and we hit into a nice school of dolphin.

The guys threw out a couple extra lines and kept the first catch dangling off the side to keep them frenzied. The bull was a lot harder to bring up to the surface but after a half dozen cows were reeled in Ryan finally hooked up on a pretty good 20 pounder. Dinner!

I got some great shots of our catch before they started to lose their color, its weird how quickly they dull once you get them out of the water. Those pictures will make a great addition to our fishing photo album. Later on we blackened that mahi with a new spice mixture I found and everyone raved over how tasty it all was. I'd bet anything that without our fish finder we never would have been able to pinpoint exactly where the great school of fish was.
