Stop getting lost, know where you are going...
Lead the way with confidence
If there is one thing that I have learned over my decades on the ocean is that nothing on a boat comes cheap. If you are new to the water you may not believe me but if you have been around you know exactly what I am talking about. The costs seem to be high when you speak of marine electronics and even simple boat hardware. It is because this is how it is that I find it funny when people complain about the garmen gps prices they see in the stores. Garmen is the top brand for marine and road gps so why complain and pinch pennies now. If you are going to happily spend five dollars for a screw to hold down a cleat then you need not worry about the extra bucks for a garmen over a cheesy and cheap brand of gps. The cleat is useful but heck the gps is a tad more useful would you say?
Though they look high compared to a TV remote, garmen gps prices are not that bad in the world of marine electronics. There are less expensive models of garmin gps and more pricey models of the garmen gps so do not fret there is one for you. You should look very carefully at the features and gadgets on all of them and decide what you truly need and which ones you just want prior to looking at the prices. Many of you would say that is silly but here is why. The gps is essential all boaters and it can save your life someday. Is your life worth a few dollars, yes it is.
If you focus too much on the garmen gps prices and those of other brands you may actually cheap out on some life saving features that you should never do without. That's silly and you know that so when you are in the market for a gps then do not go cheap. If you want to save a few dollars then get a less pricey fm radio or cheaper fenders or ropes. If you have a boat and want to use it then do the right thing and get the right tools to have fun and stay alive and in control.
