Its really true that the software that comes with the gps is just as important and the equipment itself. Still choosing a brand name gps such as Garmin doesn't always mean you will be gauged on the price. Many electronics retailers run specials, some really good ones at holiday times that will save you a bundle with discounts on gps and the software updates.

Garmin gps software discounts are not as uncommon as you may think, so don't impulse buy and reach for that cheap gps on the shelf whose name you have never heard of. A little research and thumbing through a couple advertisements for local retailers will help you decide what the best deal is for your specific needs. I would also recommend that you search online to compare the features and options each gps has before going into the store to purchase one.
